Today`s picture-taking plan fell apart. I explored a location I wasn`t very familiar with. My voice was on the radio, but I took the day off. This cemetery has been here since 1872. Pray for us now and at the hour of our death.

We can lift ourselves out of ignorance, we can find ourselves as creatures of excellence and intelligence and skill. JONATHAN LIVINGSTON SEAGULL She had a variety of percussion instruments and seemed to be playing a concert for the gulls. The cabbage white isn`t glamorous, but it`s ubiquitous. Pre-dusk. Free milk. How thirsty are you?

The end of a tasty era. It was a big day for cranes. Wear it while you still can. `Coast to coast, LA to Chicago, western male, across the north and south, to Key Largo, love for sale.` `Honey, I made your favorite.` `CICADA! Oh, it`s delicious!`

Stop and pop. One and done. When the trolley goes off the rails. Drivers often do stupid things at this intersection (see April 28, 2022). Unfortunately, I had to walk across it. The dining room at the neighborhood Arby`s will soon be even more luxurious. My own personal Margaret Qualley film festival.

Tired of your drab old parking garage? Try a little paint. I`m not jealous of him. I have inner strength. I will never be the most popular resident of the Oregon District as long as Diesel the duck lives here. This singer made me think about Jewel for the first time since around 1995. I was concerned that I didn`t have five photos for today, but then I remembered that I live in the Oregon District.

Unlike many street musicians, this guy has skills. Not a city worker, just a neighbor taking responsibility. I`m only too happy to share my crosswalk with you (see August 30, 2025). Salsa the food existed centuries before salsa music. The show isn`t always on the stage.

Pregame pep talk. I planned to take pictures of birds and bugs today, but this turned out to be better. Yes, she`s allowed to use her hands, but she also jumped higher than everybody else. She`s just about the score the winning goal . . . . . . and then this happened.

If you give money to my radio station, you can get a nifty magnetic bookmark. Street level kindness: the girl on the scooter went very slowly to avoid startling the woman in front of her. A reminder of why I take pictures every day: because if I didn`t, I`d miss the bald eagle over downtown Dayton. Should I explain to you how hard it is to get this shot? I kept waiting for him to pull out the engagement ring.

I wonder of this cat has ever met Diesel the duck (see September 5 above). The Dayton Police is a national leader for its bike patrol. I guess I won`t be able to tell people to `turn right at the red building` anymore (see March 19, 2010). Left: 1847. Right: 1976. Downtown Dayton`s newest landmark.

No. Nope. Sorry, no. Again no. Yes. I`m done here.

September 11, 2025
It`s a day of remembrance. She`s at it again (see September 21, 2023). A preview of `The Wedding Singer` later this season. She was brilliant in `Our Town` last season. I didn`t know she could sing too. There`s a lot of talent at Wright State University.

They`re a fun couple (see November 9, 2024). This is really a picture of her engagement ring. I took her photo for the first time right here (see April 2, 2010). I wouldn`t suggest poses like these for most people, but Kelley and Victor were all in. They will get married one year from today, but their happily ever after has already begun.

Thank you to the person who brought the chocolate. Just the latest, and possibly the best, of many photos I`ve taken of Christian Berg over the years. Dave Greer`s Classic Jazz Stompers performed on the final day of the season at Levitt Pavilion Dayton. Erik Greiffenhagen plays a variety of reed instruments. I regret that many cold months will pass before I attend another concert at Levitt Pavilion Dayton.

Jim McCutcheon kicks off our public radio pledge drive. The Guitar Man left by the back alley door. And he had a van full of musical instruments with him. Sweet things for a sweet girl. It was a pink event, and I wore the wrong color.

Mrs. Alonzo went to the hospital and had a baby boy. When the boy was in kindergarten, the teacher sent Mrs. Alonzo a note about how he made a nuisance of himself. In high school, the boy became a journalist. The boy bought a cheap suit and sang in a select choir. Despite a rough start in kindergarten, the boy graduated.

Nails on the street? I hope nobody blows a tire. The sidewalk sees all. The Second Law of Thermodynamics states that systems naturally move toward a state of disorder. Paint brushes and rollers are obsolete. Random guy wanted a new headshot on the sidewalk.

That crane is right over the main entrance, so employees and clients have to walk awkwardly under it. And this chart proves my point. Why I`m glad I work in an office. On the walk home. Today went off the rails and I ate lunch for dinner.

Built in 1866, the Victoria Theatre deserves special care. In December 1986, Bill Combs changed the direction of my life by inviting me to become a radio host at WDPR. A Very Famous Pianist was in the room next to me, but all I had time to do was take pictures of his pictures. Don`t step on those. You`ll regret it. How I feel after five days of a public radio pledge drive.

Pledge drive lunch (and leftovers for dinner too). Will Discover Classical be able to stay on the air? Yes, listeners donated generously to our pledge drive. Keitaro Harada conducted his debut concert with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, and ushers are looking for my socks in Row E where they were knocked off. There was music inside and outside the Schuster Center.

That smile (see September 21, 2024). The Mexican kid I never was. Why I come early to the parade (see September 16, 2023). And now for something completely different. Rosie Revolution lit up my night photography class.

Juxtaposition, a world-class guard, is based in Ohio. Today Juxta held auditions for the 2026 season. I was exhausted just watching them. Despite the pressure of auditioning, the mood was light. Returning teammates seemed happy to see each other.

September 22, 2025
I scored a Juxtaposition t-shirt yesterday. It`s an inside joke. Lerica Russell doesn`t exist. When it rains outside, I take useless pictures inside. When it rains outside, this guy doesn`t care. Dayton is atypical in many positive ways.

Do you really want to eat that? Blue matches the sky better (see March 19, 2010). Buzzards circled overhead as summer breathed its last. Faces in the crowd. People think I`m a photographer, but I`m really a writer.

September 24, 2025
The Ohio flamingo. She was being photographed twice at the same time. This was not unexpected, but it is unwelcome. Turbulence. I`m only too happy to share my crosswalk with you (see September 6 above).

September 25, 2025
The pink flower is growing, the white flower is strangling. It has not been a good year for hummingbird photos. Not my favorite color, but there was plenty of it. I didn`t have much company on the prairie this morning. As there are more of us, there are fewer of you.

September 26, 2025
It was a good night for the home team. They were strong on offense. They were strong on defense. Thank you for your service. Keeping an eye on the competition.

At 12:40pm a clothing designer is hard at work. She has sketched out her ideas. At 8:10pm, the finished outfit is seen in a fashion show. At 5:17pm, another designer finalizes her creation. A model shows off the outfit at 8:15pm.

September 28, 2025
It was hot and sunny. At least I wasn`t running around. The universal gesture for `I didn`t push her down.` Close, but no proposal (see September 7 above). Duquesne: the qu sounds like K, and the esne sounds like ayne because the s is silent. Got it? `Hi, my name`s Anna and these are my hands.` (see October 9, 2021)

September 29, 2025
When all else fails, take pictures of a fountain. Her name is Victoria, but I call her Ria. The world would be a better place if people looked up more often and remembered it`s just one of countless worlds. Other people`s photo shoots. Note to squirrel: the car is not your friend.

September 30, 2025
A good place to get married (see August 6, 2015, and June 8, 2018). Shades of the South. Tryna make somethin outta nuthin. I encountered the person who maintains the flowers in this neighborhood garden, and I thanked him sincerely. My last -- and probably my worst -- photo of the month.
